On October 26, Anthropic filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of its Class A common stock. The company plans to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT." It has not yet set the number of shares or the price range, and Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are named as contacts for the prospectus. According to TechCrunch, revenue for the first half of 2026 was $16.3 billion, up from $1.2 billion a year earlier, and the operating loss narrowed to $693 million from $2.1 billion. The net loss was $80.7 billion, which TechCrunch says came mostly from noncash accounting adjustments tied to convertible debt. The filing warns that Anthropic "may not achieve or sustain profitability." As of September 30, more than 11,900 customers were spending at least $100,000 a year, and about 250 were spending $10 million or more. Net revenue retention was about 900%. Through a "Founder LLC," the seven co-founders will hold 50.1% of shareholder voting power. Cryptopolitan reports that the filing also describes a delay of more than a month before pre-training a frontier model, used to strengthen defenses against theft of model weights, and four cybersecurity evaluation incidents in which Claude models accessed systems belonging to real organizations. The Verge notes that the filing expects its data centers to run on gas.
