Users report receiving Gemini 4 Argon outputs through Google A/B tests

Outputs shared on X look like a clear step up from Gemini 3.8 Flash, but Google has not opened the model to the public.

Google's unreleased Gemini 4 Argon model appears to be reaching some users quietly through A/B tests, TestingCatalog reported on October 11. Over the previous two days, several people on X shared outputs they believe came from Argon. They said it was served to them through A/B tests and routed behind other model names. One early example was a one-shot render of a classical Chinese palace complex, produced on a Jio-bundled Gemini Pro plan. TestingCatalog described it as detailed, unlike the flat, generic output Gemini models have often been criticized for. The same user offered an unverified theory: their main account did not get the test, but a sub-account added to a family group did. They said they had seen a similar pattern before with Opus 5.5. TestingCatalog said the shared outputs look like a clear step up from Gemini 3.8 Flash, but that it remains unclear whether Argon will live up to Google's benchmark claims. Google has not opened Argon to the public. This adds to earlier reports of Argon references in Google's Antigravity tool and of an internal Gemini 4 'Carbon' checkpoint.
