Hours later he described attempts at 'the decimation, or destruction, of AI' as one of many Democratic hoaxes, listing it alongside Russia, Ukraine, global warming and his two impeachments. He said the campaign began with attacks on data centers and had shifted to AI itself after that effort failed, and he offered no evidence for the claim. According to The Decoder, Trump also announced an 'AI Force' modeled on the Space Force and said he would soon appoint an 'AI czar,' adding that only candidates with a 'high IQ' would qualify. He claimed AI could reach 25 percent of US economic output and vowed to hold what he called America's lead over China. For potential abuses he said he would use existing criminal and civil law rather than regulations that could slow growth. The Decoder notes that US communities have been pushing back on new data centers over water and energy use and rising utility costs. The posts extend the position Trump took earlier in the week when he called AI safety fears a hoax during a call with Nvidia's Jensen Huang.
