TCS unit HyperVault commits up to Rs 70,000 crore for a one-gigawatt AI campus in Hyderabad

HyperVault, a subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services, announced on Saturday that it has secured 264 acres of land in Hyderabad, in the Indian state of Telangana, to build a large-scale AI data centre campus with capacity of up to one gigawatt. In a regulatory filing, the company said HyperVault and its partners expect to invest up to Rs 70,000 crore, about $7.4 billion, to build and manage the infrastructure. The project will proceed in phases according to customer demand and technology requirements. The facility is designed to support frontier AI companies and hyperscalers with high-density, liquid-cooled compute. TCS expects it to rank among the largest AI infrastructure sites in India, and the filing says it will generate several thousand direct and indirect jobs. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy called the project historic, put the job estimate at 7,000, urged the company to raise its investment to Rs 1 lakh crore, and said the state wants to inaugurate the campus on June 2, 2028. The filing describes green energy and water-neutral design principles but defines neither term. The Next Web contrasts this with European rules requiring any data centre above 500 kilowatts to report total and drinking water consumption annually. The investment follows TPG's $1 billion stake in the TCS data centre business last November.
